Cardinal emotions, pt I

A young woman comes home from being fired, fuming. But once in her apartment, everything seems to be conspiring to ratchet her anger higher, higher, higher. Until it consumes her.

This is the first installment in the Cardinal Emotions micro short series. Cardinal Emotions will be a series of experimental micro-shorts where each installment, with a maximum runtime of 2 minutes, will focus on a singular emotion.

Cinema is a field of innovation – from silent films to the “talkies,” from Black & White to Technicolor, from film stock to digital, there is always a new revolution on the horizon. Technology drives much of that progress and now is an integral part of our lives. But where do emotions and humanity fit in all that?

We want to use technology and creativity to focus back on what unites us all: emotion.

Collaboration and experimentation are the engines of our Cardinal Emotions series. Our focus is to bring together talented creatives excited to pitch relevant thoughts, ideas, and personal experiences to produce a collaborative, ensemble-based film.

We attempt to use as many of cinematic & technical elements as possible to externalize the internal feeling. From costumes to color each aspect of a film has the opportunity to bring the viewer closer to a human truth.

Each film will create a unique experience. Visually evocative. Creatively innovative. And above all: a quest for the human, the universal. Join in the Cardinal Emotions movement!
